Notes
The description for item 100 includes extracts from a four page letter to Naomi Mitchison dated 8 December 1955. Tolkien expresses his disappoint at the dramatisation of The Lord of the Rings for radio, mentions various distractions, and enquires about reception of her book To The Chapel Perilous. [Tolkien had declined A&U's request to supply positive comments for the jacket blurb.]

The letter is reprinted in more extensive form in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien (1981) as Letter 176.
