Notes
This catalogue includes several Tolkien-related lots, the most notable being:

493 - A two page letter to Elsie Honeybourne, dated 18 September 1967. The extracts included in the lot description thank Miss Honeybourne for a present, and discuss The Lord of the Rings and the meaning of the name 'Honeybourne'. The first page of the letter is reproduced in a photograph.

494 - A two page letter to Elsie Honeybourne, dated 21 December 1967. The quotes included in the lot description discuss The Lord of the Rings and the name 'Honeybourne', and briefly mentions Smith of Wootton Major. The second page of the letter is reproduced in a photograph.

495 - A one page letter to Mr. Burrows, dated 1 August 1969, discussing the signing of a copy of The Hobbit, and Tolkien’s change of address and recent poor health. The letter is reproduced in a photograph.

The letters are not included in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien (1981).
