This catalogue includes five Tolkien-related lots:
Lot 391 - A one page postcard to Deirdre Levinson dated 13 June 1955, arranging a meeting. The lot description includes a short phrase from the card.
Lot 392 - A two page lettercard to Deirdre Levinson dated 28 April 1956, arranging a tutorial. The lot description quotes several sentences and gives the impression that Tolkien was rather pressed for time.
Lot 393 - A two page lettercard to Deirdre Levinson dated 20 December 1956. The front of the card shows a four line quote from the Crist of Cynewulf, while on the reverse Tolkien asks if she would like anything as a token or gift. The quotation is reproduced in a photograph.
Lot 394 - A two page letter to Deirdre Levinson, dated 26 June 1957. In the extracts quoted, Tolkien discusses, amongst other things, contentment, mead, South Africa and various happenings in Oxford.
Lot 395 - A one page letter to Elliott Howard, dated 12 February 1963. The extracts quoted in the lot description thank Howard for his letter and apologise for the brevity of the response.
These letters and notes are not included in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien (1981).
