This poster reproduces Tolkien's original artwork for the dustwrapper of The Hobbit. It was used as the basis for the dustwrapper on the First Edition, First Impression of the The Hobbit (1937), and has been the basis for the cover design of many other editions.

The original artwork can also be found in J.R.R. Tolkien: Artist and Illustrator (1995), and in a slightly modified form on the covers of the 2006 HarperCollins paperback edition of The Hobbit.
